Finally it’s happened- the invasion, though Putin calls it military action. All know do not pasting any links. Better half was worried if we need to stick groceries again, but I told to chill and watch the suffering.

some of my american colleagues have stocked up on groceries and packed meat that's good to last a good 6-8 months Indians stuck in Ukraine are being brought back, it will take a couple week to bring back 20K people at about 250 per flight. I found it funny that Zee and others find people who praised govt efforts and NDTV always finds those who are shouting at Modi for focusing on UP elections.

Apparently it costs 1-2 crores to pursue MBBS in India and seats are limited, with lot of reservations, many people are left with going to countries like Ukraine where it's like one-fourth the cost or so.

The sense of entitlement that these future India doctors have, is scaring me a bit. The way they want embassy to contact and arrange everything. One lady who flew from Poland to Mumbai was cribbing that she belongs to Uttarakhand, and has been dropped in Mumbai.

All in all definitely some students had a very tough time walking 10-12 hours in extreme cold, with no food, the world collapsing and in utter chaos all around. No denying it was extremely tough and tiring for them, but this is where one should stay calm, realize that govt's hands are tied.
Even the famous actor Sean Penn had to walk miles.

One relative I met in a family function long back (2007 or so) was doing the Ukraine route. He was giving the cost reason. I would factor in chance to look around for east European girls also as an added advantage!

One lady who flew from Poland to Mumbai was cribbing that she belongs to Uttarakhand, and has been dropped in Mumbai. Reminds me of initial Covid days. One friend whose daughter returned from a college in US said that the arrangements were not 5 star but reasonably good for whatever govt does. Compare this to all the sob stories from NDTV.

Couple of cousins of my brother-in-law were studying to be doctors in Ukraine, they flew out a couple weeks before the war started. They're so glad they did, they were saying that the build up was going on for weeks, so they thought it might actually start.
